Joyce Rains Cunningham

Joyce Rains Cunningham, 81, of McDonald, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2016. She was born August 26, 1934 to LL and Rudy Presley Rains in Sand Mountain, Alabama. She was the faithful wife of Jack Cunningham, whom she married in May of 1960. 

Jack preceded her in death in March of 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jarrett Rains, and two sisters, Jacqueline Brooks and Jimmie Smith.

She is survived by her sister, Joan Butler and husband Benny of Springville, Alabama. She is also survived by two daughters, Tracy Blake and husband Mark of Archdale, North Carolina, and Alyson Bird and husband David of Etowah, Tennessee. She was a proud and loving Mamaw to Andrew Simons and Hayley Simons Tallmen of North Carolina, as well as Jonah, Daniel, Rose, Jack, Clementine, and Violet Bird of Tennessee. She also has three great-grandchildren, Grayson Young, Parker and Emma Simons, all of North Carolina. Joyce will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A service of remembrance will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.   Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
