Mary Helen ‘Button’ Bettis, 75, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at her residence. She had lived in Cleveland her entire life and had been an employee of Jackson Furniture/Capnapper. She was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church.
She was affectionately known to all her family and friends as “Button.” When she was three days old, her dad touched her nose and said “it was as cold as a button.” From that day on, she was only called “Button.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Bettis and Edith Bates Bettis; and one brother, Jimmy Bettis.
She is survived by one sister, Loretta Wyatt of Cleveland; one grandchild, Nazareth Curtis of Cleveland, a niece, Betty Lou Hodge, and a special friend, Dustin Curtis.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Cloverleaf Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Lewis officiating.
