Edna Irie Dill

Edna Roberts Dill, 90, passed away at her home in Cleveland on November 7, 2016, surrounded by family.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Benton and retired from J.H. Kellman Company.

A hard-working, strong, and loving woman, she held true to tradition for her eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  She cooked delicious weekly Sunday dinners for them and gave them the best of holidays – feasts at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Easter egg hunts in the spring.  She loved gardening and yard work and spending time with her best friend and companion for the past eleven years, her dog Penny.

She was the daughter of the late Stella Hair and William Harvey Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray (Short) Dill; her daughter, Phyllis Goins; her son, Stephen Dill; and her brothers, William (Bud) Roberts and Clifford (Snook) Roberts.

She is survived by four children: Charles Dill and wife Kathy of Athens, Linda Rogers and husband Jerry of Benton, Jack Dill and wife Barbara of Cleveland, and Connie Lawson of Cleveland; her sister, Mamie Lee Jenkins of Cleveland; special family friend Jim Lincoln; son-in-law Jim Goins; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

The funeral will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the funeral home with Chaplain Marv Eskew officiating.  Interment will follow at New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.   A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family extends appreciation to the caregivers of Hearth Hospice for their dedication and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
