Melvin Henry VanHoozier

Melvin Henry VanHoozier, 67, a resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at the family residence.  He was a former resident of Maryland.  He was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Melvin liked to do woodworking, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. VanHoozier was the son of the late Joseph Robert VanHoozier and Lorena Mae Jones VanHoozier; he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Hagy, William “Bill” VanHoozier, and John Robert VanHoozier.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Glennis Collier VanHoozier of Cleveland; 2 children:  Ronald Wayne VanHoozier and wife, Kimberly Ann of Harrison, TN and Kimberly Dawn Purser of Cleveland, TN; 9 grandchildren:  Madison Cordell, Jacob Roberts, Ruebin Thrasher, John VanHoozier, Noah VanHoozier, Lexi VanHoozier, Chloe Webb, Nevaeh VanHoozier, and Anthony Cathey; siblings:  Ruth Hypes of Tazewell, VA, Dorothy Jamison of Boonsboro, MD, Joan Steele of Knoxville, MD, and Roger VanHoozier of Maryland; special friend, Joe Loney.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Higgins officiating.  Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
