Shirley Green Casteel

Shirley Green Casteel, 72, a resident of Decatur, Texas, and a former resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016.  She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Cleveland.  She enjoyed gardening and collecting dolls.  She also loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. 

Mrs. Casteel was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Casteel, Jr.; her parents, Ruth and Robert Green; brothers, David, Carol and Harley Green; and her son, Robert “Robbie” McCarter.

She is survived by her son, Troy Adams and his wife, Lisa of Decatur, Texas; daughters:  Laura Lay and husband, Benny of Delano, TN, Loretta McCarter, Treva Stafford both of Cleveland, TN; step son, Jimmy Casteel and wife, Sonya of Florida; siblings:  Mary Lou Reagan and husband, Ronald of Cleveland, TN, Bobby Green and wife, Carrol of Cleveland, TN, Kenneth Green and wife, Muriel of Gainesville, GA, and Wilma McCarter of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren:  Blake Coffman, Taylor Stafford, Ashley Ellis, Cherie Davis, McKayla McCarter, Jonathan Adams, Brittany Adams, Madison Casteel and Jennifer Casteel; great-grandchildren:  Braleigh Coffman, Rylee Grace Coffman, Tucker Ellis, Hunter Wilson, and Katie Wilson; nieces and nephews:  Gabriel Green, Daniel Green, Valerie Green, David Reagan, Ronnie Reagan, Craig Green, Ginger Green, Travis Sykes, Tyler Sykes, and Jake McCarter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Johnston Cemetery.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at the funeral home.
