Sarah Green Phillips

Sarah Vance Green Phillips, 81, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 in a local healthcare facility. She was affiliated with the Church of God.

She enjoyed crafts, working puzzles and spending time with her family. Her favorite activities at the healthcare facility were bingo and singings. Sarah attended Allen Elementary School, Bradley High School, and Bob Jones Academy at Lee College.  She was employed by Bradley Nursing Home as CNA for fifteen years, before starting her own business.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Phillips; parents, Charlie and Susie Green; grandbabies, Julie Elliott and Pat Ruth; brother, Earl Green; two sisters, Scharlene Ellis and Nellie Holder.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Marion Ruth of Benton, TN; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Pam Elliott of Cleveland, TN, Jackie and Jackie Elliott of Old Fort, TN, and Charles (Tim) and Mary Elliott of Benton, TN; one sister, Tennie Green Dispain of Cleveland, TN.

She is also survived by her many grandchildren, Johnny Hunt, and David Hunt both of Benton, TN, Amy Wilcox, of Benton, TN, Richie Elliott of Chatsworth, GA, Jacob Elliott of Cleveland, TN, Jessica Elliott of Cleveland, TN, Jaclyn Stewart of Oldfort, TN, Tasha Moore of Athens, TN, Keith Elliott of Cleveland, TN Jessie Elliott of Cleveland, TN, Nancy Keith of Benton, Chris Keith of Benton, and Marvena Rodgers of Benton; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; loving niece and care giver, Phyllis Taylor.

Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Higgins officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Michael Stewart, Jessica Elliott, Richie Elliott, Keith Elliott, Jessie Elliott, and Jaclyn Stewart serving as pallbearers.  Jacob Elliott and Steve Wilcox will serve as honorary pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family suggests in memory of Sarah that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive Suite 8, Chattanooga, TN  37421.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
