Wanda Burke, 88, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 in a local healthcare facility. She had lived in the Cleveland area her entire life. She was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and a graduate of Bradley Central High School. She loved to read, go bowling, and also loved to travel and go on fun vacations. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Burke; parents, James Robert Elrod and Callie Mae Hughes Elrod; son, Michael Burke; and brother, Jack Elrod.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Burke Bowman and husband Ernie; two grandchildren, Jason Burke and Christy Cathey; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Elrod; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Peters officiating.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the caregivers at Brookdale of Cleveland and Avalon Hospice for the care and comfort they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Tennessee, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 6, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421.
