Francis Afton Allen, 93, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 in a local healthcare facility. He was of the Church of God faith and attended Brainerd Hills Chapel in Chattanooga. He was a well known builder in the Cleveland and Bradley County area for over 60 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mildred Augustine Clark Allen, who passed away January 1, 2019; his parents, J. B. Allen and Nora Louisa Trotter Allen; sister, Hazel Lee; brother, F. G. Allen; two half-sisters, Ruby Crocker and Pearl Toomey; and half-brother, Lee Mowery.
Survivors include his daughter, Martha Jane (Steve) Hunt of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Herron and Vickie Marie Herron, both of Cleveland; four great-grandchildren, Alaina Marie Graham, Chloe Jada Graham, Tyson DeWayne Lawson, and Kayden Raine Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Herron and Pastor Kelvin Russell, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Ken Jones, Jason Stephens, Steve Hunt, Steve Robinson, Victor Lee, and Kent Berry serving as pallbearers. Military honors, a white dove release ceremony, and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the funeral home.
