Betty Miles May

Betty Miles May, 88, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at Garden Plaza, Life Care in Cleveland.

Betty was born June 13, 1930 in Rockwood, Tennessee.  She taught science at Rockwood Jr. High School until she retired.  She attended First Baptist Church of Rockwood, TN.  When Betty moved to Cleveland in 1993, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman (Lee) May; and parents, Kate and Bill Miles.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Bill May and wife Gincy of Cleveland; and daughter, Sharon Lindsay and husband Max of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Dr. Russ May and wife Caitlin of Cleveland; Dr. Kate Kirksey and husband Bryce of Cleveland; Jake Lindsay and wife Kerstin of Chattanooga; Nate Lindsay and wife Ashley of Dallas, TX; Blake Lindsay of Denver, CO; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Will, and Benji May, and Miles and Sage Kirksey.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory in Cleveland. 

Graveside services and internment will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Oak Grove Cemetery, 212 W. Rockwood Street, Rockwood, TN.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
